Demis Lyall-Wilson here - digital compositor and author.

Just thought I'd let you guys know about my new ebook :
"How To Get That Visual Effects Job : an insider's guide to making it big working for Hollywood".

It's designed to fill that knowledge gap currently out there - there are plenty of ways to find out how to create vfx, and plenty of ways of finding job listings, but nothing which tells you HOW to get a visual effects job.

I've tried to pool together all the freelancer tips and tricks which have worked for me and my buddies over the years so that this book should be quite a useful resource for anyone starting out. It's ideal for someone who's starting out in the industry, who has a few skills, but no idea how to turn those skills into a paying job...

I cover not only the obvious stuff like putting together your showreel, but other topics such as ways of approaching VFX companies so that you'll stand out, the differences between a VFX interview and a regular type of job, the best cities to hunt for work in, and things like a solid checklist of all the things you'll need to know (or have done) before even looking for vfx work.

I remember what it was like when I was starting out, and would've loved to have something like this at the time - I hope I can help a few people out with it.

Let me know what you think, and if anyone is keen to see a sample chapter of the table of contents, let me know and I'll post something here.
