Responsibilities:
· Works with the technical team to help design and implement proprietary and third-party production pipelines.
· Identifies, defines and implements tools that automate production.
· Works with IO department to ingest, process plates and VFX assets.
· Assesses client plates for technical quality issues.
· Prior to submission to client, reviews all shots for artifacts relating compositing or colour space issues.
· Provides general support and reviews for data input and output functions.
· Assist the team in debugging problematic shots and assist in optimizing shots for efficiency.
· Be actively involved in mentoring junior artists throughout productions.
· Serves as key technical expert on productions.

Qualifications:
· Solid knowledge of VFX shot production and its iteration process.

· Extensive hands-on experience with production tools and pipelines.
· Experience with compositing as well as integration of 3D elements into plates.

VFX Editor Job Description
Location: Vancouver, BC

Summary:
The Editor incorporates all required versions (from animatics through to final composites) of visual effects shots into the current cuts of live action sequences for the review of Supervisor and Producers. He also maintains a functioning environment where the Visual Effects Supervisor can evaluate any version of any shot in the current sequences for aesthetic and technical direction. The Editor is the liaison between vendor facility and client VFX editorial department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive/process client count sheets and line-up info and translates data into the internal facility shot online database (SHOTGUN)
Checks plate frames received to guarantee the frames the facility received can indeed complete the shot as intended by the client
Publish EDL / Quicktimes to our internal dailies system using a GUI interface or command line T-shell script
Convert Quicktimes to various codec/resolution specs per client or facility needs
Works with reference footage provided by client / facility to extract frame sequences and send ref to our internal database system
Works with audio files to provide animation team with sync sound for dialogue/action
Drive Avid playback for client and internal supervisor review sessions
Creates Avidref JPEG frame sequences that represent client's creative intent for each shot at correct frame length for final delivery
Upon show completion assists with how-to/making of shot reels and final archive of shots/sequences to D5 tape
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
4-5 years industry experience with Avid Media Composer (including High Definition projects)
Experienced with using timelines, client media consolidations, Avid effects, titles, etc. to complete work
Knowledge of Final Cut Pro a plus
Familiar with Cinesync for client tele-conference review calls
Knowledge of computer network and operating systems

Visual Effects Production Coordinator Job Description
Location: Vancouver, BC

Summary:
The Production Coordinator is responsible for the assignment and tracking of tasks for assigned
area of responsibility. Facilitates the movement of shots between teams, coordinates daily
reviews, and communicates status updates to ensure the delivery of shots on schedule. Provides
administrative support to the production management team and show supervisors.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the DP or DPM, schedules and tracks progress of tasks for assigned artists or sequences in the production tracking system
Maintains production tracking system and show board with revisions, omits, and shot length changes; notifies the affected crew as needed
Partners with other Production personnel to ensure shots are scheduled and delivered in a timely manner
Follows up with artists on a daily basis to ensure task deliveries remain on schedule; communicates any schedule changes to appropriate artists, Supervisors and Production team as needed
Coordinates all client deliveries, both physical deliveries and digital deliveries via FTP, with Production Services department; maintains log of all deliveries
Manages meeting schedule and walkthroughs for Supervisors; publishes notes as needed
Responsible for setup of dailies, nightlies, and all client reviews in the Screening Room and view stations; publishes notes for all review sessions
Leads nightly production update for assigned area of responsibility
Acts as primary point of contact for internal Editorial
Completes reference research for elements for Supervisors and area leads
Oversees run requests and petty cash
This is a cross departmental position that will require management of pipeline issues
Liaison with Production Coordinator in Venice Studio to coordinate cross discipline tasks, deliveries, questions, statuses and approvals
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree in film, art, communications or related field
3+ years production experience in visual effects or feature animation
Demonstrable experience in highly technical, dynamic departments is a must
Experience with heavy schedule management in a very time sensitive atmosphere
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required; experience with production tracking software and asset management software a plus
Highly developed communication skills to facilitate interdepartmental needs and schedules required

Rigger Job Description
Location: Vancouver, BC

Summary:
The Rigger will be responsible for the rigging of various assets including characters with a skeleton, clothing, hair, and deformation controls, and will report to the Lead Rigger.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Produce custom built rigs for biped, quadrupeds, creatures with multiple appendages props and vehicles.
Generate a variety of hero and digital double character rigs.
Complete tasks within production deadlines while being largely self-directed.
Work closely with Animators and Modelers to troubleshoot and fix problems or rig limitations that arise in the course of production.
Take direction from Animation Supervisors and Leads as well as provide guidance and mentorship to other Riggers.
Experience and Skills Required:
Minimum 3 years experience with character rigging.
Knowledge of Maya rigging tools including joint and skeleton creation, skinning and weighting, IK setup, blend-shapes, and deformers.
Solid understanding of anatomy and articulation of realistic humans and creatures.
Ability to quickly grasp and replicate anatomy and articulation of non-realistic creatures from various reference materials.
Solid understanding of articulations and rig building on digital characters as well as sophisticated props and vehicles.
MEL scripting required, working knowledge of Python desired.
Basic modeling skills and a good understanding of polygonal mesh flow is a plus.
Ability to learn quickly and comprehend custom in-house production tools.
Firm understanding of animation production pipelines.
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
Leading or mentoring experience a plus.

Web Developer Job Description

Position Summary:
Digital Domain is seeking a Web Developer to develop and optimize our Intranet, custom web applications and websites. Our internal content is currently documented in several open-source systems including: a Drupal-based CMS (converted wiki), embedded software system with Sphinx, and a video distribution using Gallery. The position involves supporting content management systems in a multi-site environment. The web developer will also support, consult or create web based applications for the facilities. You will configure and deploy servers, as well as write and maintain code that uses these servers. Technical Writer Job Description
Location: Vancouver, BC

Position Summary:
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and validating documentation that covers features, user interaction and system components for our proprietary production software. The Technical Writer must be able to create documentation by conducting interviews with software development engineers, end users and performing their own testing. The Technical Writer will also be responsible for how documentation is organized and maintained throughout the facility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Create documentation standards and guidelines for use by software developers.
Attend development meetings and then work directly with the engineers to learn how to use the feature/tool.
Document the workflow as it evolves, providing testing and usability feedback to the project team.
Create comprehensive, illustrated user guides and step-by-step tutorials that can be used for both training classes as well as independent study.
The tutorials may require working directly with artists in production using the tools.
Responsible for publishing, maintaining and validating all documents in an in house knowledge base repository.
Edit the work of others to ensure it has a consistent voice and content of documentation.
Assist in training programs as needed
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
B.A. or B.S. degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field or minimum of three years of experience writing software documentation (including online help) for consumer and technical audiences
In-depth knowledge of English, grammar, spelling and punctuation
Three years' experience writing technical publications in an electronics or software development environment, or equivalent 2+ years of web development experience (HTML, DHTML, CSS, XML, PHP, Javascript)
Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages is desired.
Experience with automated software documentation tools such as Sphinx, Doxygen and Epydoc desired
