Henrik R. Fett

Visual Effects Supervisor

Henrik R. Fett, Visual Effects Supervisor and Co-founder of LOOK Effects. Henrik is highly-accomplished in live-action production, 3D animation and digital post production. He supervises digital effects production both on-set and in post production. At LOOK, Henrik has overseen projects including Black Swan (Fox Searchlight) for which he was nominated for a BAFTA, Just Wright (Fox Searchlight), Bedtime Stories (Disney), Yes Man (Warner Bros.), The Mist (Weinstein Co.), Fools Gold (Warner Bros.), The Darjeeling Limited (Disney,) Untraceable (Lakeshore,) and "Lost" (Touchstone Television.) He has also put in 'time on the box' as lead animator on commercial and feature film projects. Henrik has served as an Advisor to Gnomon School of Visual Effects. Prior to joining LOOK, Henrik worked in project development at International Creative Effects. A native of Mannheim, Germany, he is a graduate of the University of Heidelberg. Henrik began his career as an editor with credits on documentaries, motion picture trailers and commercials.

Position Summary:

The Production Accountant is primarily responsible for tracking actual project costs and forecasting project ultimates for Vancouver. This role reports directly to the Head of MPC Film, Vancouver and provides financial support to all producers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    * Prepare weekly film cost reports using actual timesheet data along with forecasted crewing estimates from the producers and department heads
    * Controlling, recording and reconciling costs to ensure adherence to cost limits
    * Provide analysis surrounding weekly variances by department and fluctuations in estimated total costs, estimated profit margins and estimated costs to complete by project
    * Liaise with senior management to develop new systems for monitoring and controlling all costs on film jobs
    * Work with producers and finance team to invoice film clients and track all billings/receivables
    * Work with producers to track all change orders and update estimates for total project revenue
    * Assist producers with film project bids and change orders
    * Compare and analyze bid days/costs against actual days/costs per project
    * Work with finance team to provide monthly revenue estimates
    * Control Production finance tracking templates and ensure all productions run the same documents
    * Provide the following weekly reports
          o Show P&L’s
          o Seat Forecast
          o MSS Departmental Summary
          o Various ad hoc analysis as required

Requirements:

    * Minimum 5-7 years production accounting/finance experience; VFX knowledge preferred
    * Bachelors degree
    * Must be able to work independently and communicate effectively in a fast-paced production environment
    * Must be proficient with Excel and able to create and work in complex financial models

General Duties and Responsibilities
Our production pipeline uses TACTIC software www.southpawtech.com) for data and project management. We are looking for someone to develop new features, customize, administer and be front line support on TACTIC. In addition to TACTIC, this role will include analyzing and implementing automation into the G83D 3D stereo pipeline. TACTIC experience is not required; training in the software and opportunities to learn the architecture will be provided.

Responsibilities
· Implement features and customizations inside TACTIC using Python and Javascript..

    * Breakdown all shots in Scratch for full length feature to verify frame-for-frame accuracy.

    * Set up rigFX for cloth simulations that are stable and versatile for a character's range of motion.
    * Works in partnership with lighters & compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard
    * Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets on time and at a high level of quality
    * Troubleshoot and solve problems independently
    * Liaise with the asset department at build phase, to achieve desired results for fur and cloth simulations
    * Writing tutorials to document new techniques
    * Work with programming and tools teams to develop tools/ scripts/ plug-ins to streamline the department
    * Work to high aesthetic level being able self critique
    * The initiative to anticipate future problems and develop solutions or tools accordingly
    * Teach others in the team

Requirements:

    * 5 years experience in film or animation production as a TD
    * 2 of the above years experience using Maya nCloth/Syflex for a variety of effects (including cloth simulation, gore effects, muscle simulation)
    * Mel scripting is a minimum requirement, python scripting preferred
    * Artists must be able to take direction and work in a team focused environment, good communication skills are a must
    * Solid work ethic and a positive attitude in the face of challenging situations
    * FX Animation Experience
    * Familiar with pipeline issues
