- Must have 5+ years experience leading a CG team for live-action, feature film VFX productions.

Responsibilities include reviewing & assessing assigned tasks with the given show lead, reporting progress of work to the coordinator and following up with the compositor requesting the rotoscope mattes.

• Uses rotoscope techniques, established by company, in either Shake, Silhouette, or Nuke
• Is open to feedback and ensures notes from the Roto Supervisor are applied
• Prepares 2d mattes or splines for use by Compositors
• Maintains a clean working environment in case work is shared with other artists

The ideal candidate would assist the Lead Matte Painter in planning, creating, and supporting the technical and creative targets for matte painting work for each project, as well as mentoring the rest of the matte painting team.

Candidates MUST HAVE at least 5+ years working as a digital matte painter on LIVE ACTION feature film work. Some lead experience preferred, but not required.

Experience with Nuke and Vue is highly desirable.

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

The Systems Administrator requires someone who can understand the overall pipeline and workflow of our production and administration environment. This person must be able to work both independently and in a team environment. The System Administrator must be able to work effectively with people at all levels and be responsive to the needs of the individual users, while maintaining an awareness of and focus on the company’s policies and goals.


RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assisting the Sr. System Administrators with installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of IE's back-end servers; email, ftp license, DNS, etc.
· Maintain back-end servers for authentication, security and data exchange between Image Engine and clients
· Maintain Renderfarm
· Calibrate monitors and theater
· Administration and maintenance of the high-end/ high capacity file servers
· License management and ensuring that IE is compliant with licensing and copyright laws
· Administration and maintenance of the backup Server
· Preparation and maintenance of full documentation on all systems, procedures and solutions to issues
· Evaluation, installation and configuration of new software and hardware
· Troubleshooting and resolving issues with production and administration applications (including: Maya, Nuke, 3delight, Mental Ray, Houdini, MS Office)
· Provide input into potential improvements in efficiency, reliability and performance of VFX pipeline
· Assisting Junior Systems Administrator with user and desktop support

REQUIREMENTS
· Must have solid knowledge of and a minimum of 5 years experience in Linux/Unix administration. Linux Certification preferred (RHCE or equivalent)
· Experience in installation and configuration servers in a Linux/Unix environment
· Good knowledge of and experience (2-3 years) in Windows (XP, 2000, 2003, Active Directory) and Mac OSX (Snow Leopard, Leopard)
· Experience working with NAS and SAN storage systems
· Basic Unix/ Linux/ Python scripting experience
· 2- 3 years VFX pipeline experience including:
o An understanding of film imagery, formats of image files and codecs
o Experience with Renderfarm and farm management (ie. Qube, Tractor)
o Experience supporting and troubleshooting VFX software packages (Maya, 3Delight, Nuke etc.)

Description
There is currently a vacancy in the Systems team for the entry-level position of Technical Assistant. The role offers the successful candidate unlimited potential to advance their technical skills at a leading Visual Effects Company. This includes experience with state-of-the-art technology and an opportunity to learn from specialist digital media colleagues.
Key Accountabilities

This is a varied role to support the daily activities of a busy Systems Department: Computer workstations require setting up and artists need help with their workstations. New equipment requires unpacking, checking, tagging and installing. Old equipment has to be decommissioned and disposed of. Computer machine rooms, wiring closets and other technical areas need to be kept clean and tidy. Technical assistants help make all this happen.

Key Tasks/duties -
Setting up and moving artist workstations.
Providing general help to other members of the systems team.
Assisting artists with requests for peripherals and basic troubleshooting.
Helping repair faulty workstations and servers.
Helping with workstation builds and software installation.
Helping with equipment installation / removal and associated documentation.
Keeping the machine room and other technical areas clean and tidy.
Keeping on-site storage areas tidy and organised.
Returning faulty equipment to suppliers.
Keeping track of spare parts.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential Experience
You should have a keen interest in computer hardware and operating systems.
A degree is not required but the ability to learn quickly and think on your feet is essential.
Enthusiasm and commitment to learn about and get involved in departmental activities.
Excellent communication and team working skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail
Desired Experience
Exposure of Linux based computers, PC hardware components and home networking.
